Davangere University is a State Public University located at Shivagangotri in Davangere, Karnataka. Established on 18 August 2009, the university was created to meet the growing higher education needs of the central Karnataka region. Before becoming an independent university, the institution functioned as a Post-Graduate Centre of the University of Mysore from 1979 to 1987 and subsequently as a Post-Graduate Centre of Kuvempu University until 2009. Today, Davangere University serves as an important centre for higher education, teaching, research and academic development in the region.
