Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) is a specialized State Public University headquartered at Navanagar, Hubballi, Karnataka, established in 2009 under the Karnataka State Law University Act, 2009. The university was created with the objective of strengthening legal education, research and professional training across Karnataka and operates as both a teaching and affiliating university. KSLU has played an important role in expanding access to legal education by affiliating law colleges across the state and developing its own Law School at the main university campus. The university's academic focus is exclusively centered on law and legal education. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate and research-oriented programmes in areas such as LL.B., integrated B.A. LL.B., B.B.A. LL.B., LL.M. and Ph.D. programmes, along with specialized areas of legal study. Its academic activities cover constitutional law, criminal law, business and commercial law, intellectual property rights, international law, human rights, family law, environmental law and other contemporary areas of legal education. KSLU also promotes legal research, professional development, legal awareness and socially relevant legal education. Its statutory objectives include developing applied branches of law, promoting alternative dispute resolution, establishing law clinics and supporting para-legal education and legal services. The university seeks to connect classroom-based legal education with practical legal skills and the broader needs of society. The main campus at Navanagar, Hubballi includes academic facilities, a Law School, examination infrastructure, library resources, hostels, sports facilities and other student-support amenities. Through its affiliated institutions and academic programmes, KSLU contributes significantly to the development of legal education and professional opportunities in Karnataka. KSLU is accredited with an A Grade by NAAC and continues to focus on quality legal education, research, professional competence, legal awareness and socially relevant learning.
