Kodagu University is a State Public University established by the Government of Karnataka to strengthen access to higher education, teaching and research in Kodagu district. Located in the culturally and ecologically significant Kodagu region, the university has an academic mission focused on providing higher education opportunities to students from the district and surrounding areas while promoting research, innovation and community-oriented learning. As a newly established university, Kodagu University is developing its academic departments, programmes, research activities and institutional infrastructure to meet the educational needs of the region. The university is expected to support undergraduate, postgraduate and research education across multiple disciplines, with emphasis on contemporary academic programmes, skill development, interdisciplinary learning and locally relevant research. Its geographical setting provides opportunities for academic work related to biodiversity, environment, agriculture, forestry, tourism, culture, social sciences and other subjects relevant to the region. Kodagu University also has an important role in strengthening the higher education ecosystem of Kodagu by creating opportunities for students to pursue university-level education closer to their communities.
