Maharani Cluster University (MCU) is a state public university located in Bengaluru, Karnataka, established by the Government of Karnataka in 2019 through the Karnataka State Universities (Amendment) Act. The university was created by upgrading a cluster of three established institutions—Maharani’s Science College for Women, Maharani’s Women Arts, Commerce and Management College, and Smt. V.H.D. Central Institute of Home Science—into a university structure with Bengaluru as its headquarters and jurisdiction over the constituent institutions. The university focuses on providing accessible and quality higher education, particularly for women students, across a broad range of academic disciplines. Its academic areas include Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, Computer Applications, Home Science and other interdisciplinary fields. Undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are offered through its constituent academic units, providing students with opportunities to pursue education in both traditional and contemporary areas. Located in central Bengaluru near Palace Road and Freedom Park, Maharani Cluster University benefits from its association with institutions that have a long educational heritage in the city. The university emphasizes teaching, skill development, academic progression, student support and socially relevant education. Its programmes cater to students seeking careers in science, humanities, commerce, management, computer applications and related fields. MCU represents the Government of Karnataka's effort to consolidate established women's higher-education institutions into a university-level academic ecosystem. With its Bengaluru location, multidisciplinary academic structure and constituent colleges, the university serves as an important public higher-education institution for students in Karnataka.
