Mangalore University is a State Public University located at Mangalagangothri in Mangaluru, Karnataka. Established in 1980, the university has developed into a major centre for higher education, research and academic development in the coastal Karnataka region. It serves students across Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kodagu through its university departments, constituent institutions and affiliated colleges. The university has a multidisciplinary academic structure covering areas such as Arts, Commerce, Education, Science and Technology, along with specialized fields of postgraduate and doctoral study. Its academic ecosystem includes postgraduate, Ph.D., diploma and certificate programmes, supported by a network of teaching departments, research centres and affiliated institutions. Mangalore University places strong emphasis on research, innovation and academic collaboration. Mangalore University has been recognized in national ranking and accreditation frameworks. In NIRF 2025, it was placed in the 101–150 rank band in the University category and in the 51–100 band among State Public Universities.
