Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) is an Institution of Eminence Deemed-to-be University headquartered in Manipal, Karnataka. The institution began its journey in 1953 with the establishment of Kasturba Medical College and evolved into a multidisciplinary higher-education institution with a strong presence in health sciences, engineering, management, humanities, social sciences, communication and liberal arts. In June 1993, the Government of India granted the group the status of a Deemed-to-be University. MAHE has developed into a globally connected academic and research ecosystem with campuses and institutions in Manipal, Mangaluru, Bengaluru and other locations. Its academic portfolio covers undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and professional programmes across diverse disciplines. The university is known for its strong emphasis on teaching, research, innovation, healthcare education, industry interaction, entrepreneurship and international collaboration. The university's academic ecosystem includes well-known institutions such as Manipal Institute of Technology, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences and several other constituent institutions. MAHE also supports extensive research through specialized centres, laboratories and interdisciplinary initiatives in areas including healthcare, engineering, biotechnology, life sciences, data science and social sciences.
