About

Nrupathunga University is a State Public University located on Nrupathunga Road in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The university was established in 2020 by upgrading the historic Government Science College, an institution that traces its origins to 1 April 1921. The university was created with the objective of strengthening higher education, research and innovation in science and other multidisciplinary areas while carrying forward the academic heritage of its predecessor institution. The university has developed an academic environment focused particularly on science, technology, humanities, commerce, management and related areas of higher education. Its academic offerings include undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and research-oriented programmes, supported by teaching departments, laboratories, libraries and other academic facilities. Research and postgraduate education form an important part of Nrupathunga University's academic ecosystem. The institution encourages students and faculty members to participate in research, seminars, conferences, academic projects and interdisciplinary activities. Its historic foundation as a science college gives the university a strong academic orientation toward scientific education and research, while its university structure allows it to expand into broader multidisciplinary areas. Located in the heart of Bengaluru, the university benefits from proximity to major educational, research, technology and public institutions. Its central location provides students with opportunities for academic interaction and exposure to the wider professional and research ecosystem of the city. The university also focuses on student development through extracurricular activities, academic support, skill development and other campus initiatives. Nrupathunga University represents the transformation of one of Bengaluru's historic government educational institutions into a modern university. While the university itself dates from 2020, its institutional legacy extends back more than a century through Government Science College. The university continues to build on this heritage by promoting quality education, research, innovation and socially relevant higher learning for students in Karnataka and beyond.
