Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University (SDMU) is a State Private University located at Sattur, Dharwad, Karnataka. Established with effect from 19 December 2018 under the Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University Act, 2018 (Karnataka Act No. 19 of 2018), the university was established with the vision of creating an affordable centre of excellence in medical education, healthcare, research and higher learning for the people of North Karnataka. The university is sponsored by the Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Educational (SDME) Society, Ujire, which operates under the aegis of Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala. SDMU follows a unitary university model and has developed a multidisciplinary academic ecosystem with a strong concentration on health and medical sciences. Its academic portfolio includes undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, fellowship and other professional programmes in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Allied Health Sciences and related biomedical disciplines. Current programmes include MBBS, BDS, B.Pharm, B.Sc Nursing, Bachelor of Physiotherapy, Bachelor of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, M.Sc programmes, MPT, postgraduate medical and dental programmes, MBA in Hospital Administration and Ph.D. programmes. Research is an important component of SDMU's academic mission. The university promotes research in medical sciences, dental sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical sciences, molecular medicine, human genetics, computational biology and allied disciplines. Its research environment is supported by laboratories, clinical facilities, academic departments and specialized research initiatives. The university's academic and healthcare ecosystem includes constituent institutions such as SDM College of Medical Sciences and Hospital, SDM College of Dental Sciences and Hospital and SDM College of Pharmaceutical Sciences. These institutions provide students with opportunities for clinical exposure, practical training, professional education and research. Located in Manjushree Nagar, Sattur, Dharwad, the university provides academic infrastructure, laboratories, libraries, hostels, student-support facilities and healthcare facilities.
